Re-Homing Goats

Why We Re Home Goats

We are limited to the amount of goats we can accept and manage on a day to day basis. When a goat has been re-habilitated, we try to find the goats a new forever home which they are best suited to as many goats came to us with issues.

Daily Care & Welfare

Do you own you own land or will the goats live at a different address and who will be responsible for daily care. Who will cover for holidays and sickness? What are the hay/straw storage and feed like? Is there mains water to the land and can the goats access a continuous supply of water (preferably by trough with automatic filler)

Types of Goats, Sizes Breeds Etc

When choosing goats, we need to know what are your preferences regarding breeds, sizes, age etc.

Whether you are an experienced goat keeper or new to goats.

What facilities do you have and will there be an experienced responsible handler there daily?

Experience & Documentation

What experience of goat keeping do you have? Do you have someone who can offer advice if you need it? Do you already have a livestock vet in mind? Would your neighbours complain?

You must have a current CPH (County Parish Holding) number relevant to the address where the goats are kept.

Home Checks

Before we allow goats to be re-homed our Welfare Officer will visit the proposed home to discuss both your needs and those of the goats. Suitable height and secure fencing.  An all year round 24/7 access to a stable/shelter.

The types of vegetation in and around the goat paddock.

Will there be other goats in the same paddock?, we usually re home as pairs, usually siblings or long established friends. On occasions we offer single goats if you are seeking a companion and we have a single goat available to rehome but as they form a close bond with their herd, we will not permit them to be alone or to be tethered at any time.

Checks & Permissions

All goats will receive a full health check, wormed, feet trimmed and flea treatment.

Do you agree to a Pre Homing Visit where a £25 deposit will be required per goat?

Subject to a Home Trial which may take between a few days or a little while longer. Once you and your goats are happy to continue with the Re- Homing there will be the remaining £75 suggested donation to be paid per goat.and a formal handover document will be completed.
